4 threads now and since last week a cap on the max. D/L (max 60Kb/s)
Username: anything / password: anything

Use this and/of other free severs in combination with you're ISP server

I am using steady for 3 years already Freenet.

Freenet explanation:

Server name: newsread0 t/m newsread6.freenet.de
Threads: each free server 2X (so total 14 threads)
Username: username@freenet.de
Password: choice you're self when you create you're FreenetMail account.
For example my username is uitvreter@freenet.de ,my password is private
like you understand!

Example:

2x newsread0.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread1.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread2.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread3.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread4.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread5.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)
2x newsread6.freenet.de (retention +/- 3 day's,speed 30 kb/s for each thread)

Like U see, the retention is short maximum 3 day's.
This mean you have to jump on it right after the upload is ready.
The total extra speed you get out of this 14 thread's is about 420 kb/s.
It's not possible to header the freenet servers, it work's only fine
with NZB files!!
The best newsreader to use with freenet is Newsleecher,
Newsreaders like NewsLeecher giving the best results with freenet please not forget to
enable the function Skip Group Command in you're NewsLeecher menu!
Remember also freenet is only for downloading, not for uploading!


How to create a German freenet account:

To create a German freenet account go to: https://pos.freenet.de/freenetMailBa...01001&pid=6667
You have to create this (MailBasic) account because of you need to use the
emailadres/password as part of you're usenet account settings.


To create you're free email account you need to have a German
address, because when you going to registrate you have to give a
German zip code.
The way to get a German address is simple just Google for a shop in Germany
use that address info, or for example Google on a real German name like Schumacher,
Heinz, Gunter etc. or check out the German telephone book see Url..:http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/
and fill in some German name.
After all, it is not that difficult to find info because there are 65 million German's.
Do not feel afraid in this case about using somebody else is zip code.
Freenet use this zip code only once for registration.
Remember thousand's of users using this way of leeching already since 2003 without
any problem, freenet is really steady and safe!!

I am having trouble with freenet.de
I keep on getting "502: Access denied to your node." and "400: Your host connection limit reached"
My username and pw are correct...I've been having freenet.de for a year now...what's wrong??

I tried searching for other free news servers...
For those who have cox isp...they have 30+ day retention on binaries now as of oct. 06..with 4 connections capped at 512kbps

current mode: 4 servers, 13 connections, 700+kb/s capped!!! =D
amazes me how I use to rely on bittorrent...


though, it would max out my speed if I had freenet working

freenet.de no longer has binaries. anybody knows?

correction....freenet.de is working...you can only download binaries from that server within a few days... possibly 2-3? i just tried downloading from freenet today and i hit another 100kbps.....884kbps!! =D

freenet.de don't support groups...only binary downloads...you can search with http://binsearch.info ...and if it's within 3 days...you can download with freenet.de

hey raktivist...you know the freebin servers allow up to 8 connections...so you can max out your connection...i have 14 servers and 42 bots...my freenet.de servers are working also just that retentions are still 3 days but cox retention is 30+ days ...dont know my max yet but it hit 922kb/s the other day

If you want free you can't go wrong with www.easynews.nl, a new NG server. they've been letting people betatest their servers for free since December. It's going live within 2-3 weeks, right now they are building up their retention.

but to answer your question: try [printscreen] (for entire screenshot) or alt+printscreen (screenshot of activewindow only)

then paste into paint, photoshop, fireworks whatever your picture editor is.

Are you using a free usenet server or a premium one? Most likely your provider has low retention so the files you were trying to download aren't available. Very common for free providers.

Article not found will most likely mean that the file is not available anymore to your newsserver.

As in every newsserver has it's own retention limit. Say like I'm using newsserver X and they promise retention up to 70days. But you're trying to download something that's over 90days old, you'll more than likely run into the "article not found" error.

remember usually free newsservers have really bad retention, usually a few days only.

and if you're trying to use easynews: the testphase is over. so no more free testing.

Ah, but for a true newsserver leeching experience (damn I sound like ken kutaragi) you should sign up to a paidserver.

allebij de servers werken. De snelheid is voor mij niet zo belangrijk want ik woon in de Filippijnen en heb een trage (voor Nederlandse begrippen) internet verbinding.
Ik gebruik vanuit de Filippijnen ook een Nederlandse pay-server (eweka) en dat gaat goed.
Ben jij een Nederlandse azie liefhebber of zit jij ook in het oosten?

whoever have cox internet...they are forever expanding their speed/service...
i have a 7mb line that i pay only 30$ a month...and whats good is that im getting a dl speed of 1.0+mb (1000kb/s) with my 7mb line....
