Question dvd files that don't join

hi- i have down loaded some dvd files, using grab-it, but all that seem to be able to join are the files to create the "sample" which i can view with realplayer. the other files - i just can't seem to figure out how to get them assembled to view. i wind up with a series of dvdr.01, dvdr.02 etc...
in the past "join" program worked, and grab-it usually decodes and assembles automatically. why would only the sample assemble? i do not appear to be missing files, even downloaded a second time to make sure.
any direction would be appreciated.
thanx, pemo

Open the first rar with winrar and extract it, or use newsleecher to download the stuff, it'll repair and extract it for you.
You can also try to extract ir with 7z http://www.7-zip.org/

lenmaer-
thank you for the reply. i have winrar installed. in the past i have bneen able to let winrar extract and all worked out. with this particular case the winrar program just winds up exteacting a second set of (duplicate) files.
i tried using quickpar and no repair is required. what confuses me is the sample video files in the group extracts and joins themselves, and i am able to play it. the download i'm experiencing this with is kidno-ilmdv2
this has happened in the past once or twice and i chalked it up to my inexperience, as i do this time as well. in the past i gave up and deleted the file, i thought this time i'd dig a little deeper for info.

Lenmaer is right;
Look into the list, there is a file called; kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.rar
After all download.
Quickpar it manually by doubleclick the file kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.par2
Unrar/Extract the file, kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.rar , with the latest Winrar. It will make an ISO file.

Sometimes Automatically extracting by Grabit will go totally wrong. But in this case it should have no problems with the DVD5 ISO.
It will go wrong sometimes I download a Divx movie (730MB) if there is a subtitle file that need to extract 2 times. For example kidno-ilmdv2-dvdrSUB.RAR will extract 2 files, to kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.IDX and kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.RAR. Inside this file is the file kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.SUB.
So it will OVERWRITE the original kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.RAR movie file with this tiny subtitle file with the same name.
So my advise is if the download is a DIVX with subtitles I do it manually with the extracting. Extract the movie (AVI) FIRST and then extract the subtitle.

But in this case Lenmaer is right. There should be no problems with the file.
Just doubleclick kidno-ilmdv2-dvdr.RAR after the download of all files and Quickpar. It will extract the whole thing.

GOOD LUCK!

thanx for reply-

sexdates,
thanks for the info. i will try again. i still have the files in the grab-it downloads folder. don't remember but i don't think there is a subtittle issue this time, but that circumstance is good to know. i did use quickpar, and i see there is an .iso file in the folder. i have the .rar file and when i clicked last attempt, it extracted a duplicate set of .r00 , .r01 , .r02 , etc...
i'm screwing up somewhere... will fool with it again this weekend.
again, thanks guys, for the help.

There is an .ISO file in the folder? Then you have done right.
It's extracted to an 4,2GB ISO file.
You need to burn the ISO file on a DVD5 disc with NERO or CLONEDVD to watch the movie.

Good Luck!
